1956

please, please, please
don’t be cruel
a tear fell
my baby left me

I walk the line
singing the blues
why do fools
fall in love

Day 47 of 100 of a peevish challenge that combines my love for music and my optimistic thinking that some day I will write yet again. The poem above is a collage of song titles that topped the charts in 1956 when Allen Ginsberg’s poem Howl was published (together with his other poems). If you haven’t had the wicked pleasure to read it yet please do so. It’s fucking mesmerizing and engaging beyond!

My flamboyantly overambitious goal is to create one “collage poem” every day for 100 consecutive days. Failing is expected. So far though I am for once not. Failing. Yet!
