1921

deep in your eyes
dreams of long ago
I used to love you,
but it’s all over now

all by myself
grieving for you
I found the rose
in the devil’s garden

Day 39 of 100 of a complicated challenge that combines my love for music and my desire to start writing once again. The poem above is a collage of song titles that topped the charts one century ago. 100 hundred years between then and now, yet when it comes to matters of the heart – it seems like not time has passed at all…
My curiously overambitious goal is to create one “collage poem” every day for 100 consecutive days.

  1. Very poignant and beautiful. Finding the rose in the devil’s garden… That hit hard and it’s such a great line to use here; finding the one good thing amidst all the bad. It flows perfectly and natural.

I enjoyed reading this. Amazing work.
