time after time
heaven’s on fire
against all odds
back where you belong
the heat is on
all night long
dancing in the dark
we belong

Day 35 of 100 of the most intriguing challenge that combines my love for music and my desire to start writing once again. The poem above is a collage of song titles that topped the charts throughout the year 1984 when summer olympics took place in Los Angeles. While I can’t really remember any specific events (after all I was only 8 years old), however, what I do remember is spending my summer visiting my grandparents in Croatia and being woken up almost every night (9 hour time difference between LA and central Europe) by my grandfather so we could watch the games together. In between events, I remember world war 2 stories that were told to me by my grandfather.
My blatantly overambitious goal is to create one “collage poem” every day for 100 consecutive days. Honestly, I’m amazed I’ve made it this far…
This photo is absolutely stunning in its perspective and the capture of shadow spiraling and falling, it leads you all the way in. I can’t stop staring at it. Amazing eye you have. And I love hearing this glimpse into your life as a kid! Made me smile. And also Cindi Lauper for life. xxx

Thank you, wondrous Allison. This photo was taken in Pula (Croatia) a few years ago. Arena has been one of the bigger ones outside Rome even back when Roman empire was at its mightiest. I remember the day I took it very well for I spent it with my younger brother that I at the time only saw once per year on the count of me living in Los Angeles and him in my home country. We made a long weekend trip to Istria. The city of Pula is Istria’s largest city. I also took him to a fortress nearby where I played with my band almost 30 years ago. It was a great day. Thank you for your beautiful words. They mean a lot. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for reminding me of that day. I find it interesting how a small prompt can unlock memories that are very much still there. They only needed a little bit of dusting… ❤
