1950

my foolish heart
I’ll never be free
bewitched
sentimental me

nevertheless
I’m movin’ on
with my eyes wide open
I’m dreaming

Day 14 of 100 of a challenge that will hopefully reignite my writing genie within. The poem above is a collage of song titles that ruled the charts throughout the year when one of my favorite playwrights Eugene Ionesco’s first stage play The Bald Soprano was performed for the first time – 1950. I have to go on a record here to say that I love the theatre of the absurd along with anything that falls under absurdist fiction.
My wickedly overambitious goal is to create one “collage poem” every day for next 100 days. So far I’ve been having a blast for it has given my an excuse to explore music of the past as well as “forcing” me to “write.” Who knows, maybe, just maybe I will manage to revive my inspiration to start writing again… Fingers crossed!

    1. Thank you! Yes, I took this photo back when I lived in Los Angeles. To be honest, I must have taken hundreds if not thousands of photos of the empty beaches in the winter. I truly enjoyed the solitude and an almost enchanting calm that radiated from a vast ocean as its waves relentlessly crashed onto the beach. Ah, the sweet memories of the times that are no more… ❤️

      1. Thank you, dear Allison. I have to say I miss wandering through deserted beaches. Just like I miss the smell of ocean mist and the feeling of the cold ocean water infused sand underneath my bare feet. ♥️
